Exposed on Gawker

Everyone should know by now how public and viral the internet is. Christopher Lee just resigned his position as a U.S. Congressman because information was leaked from his interaction with a lady on Craigslist. We have seen many scandals like this in the government before, and trying to cover up the truth is not uncommon. Lee used the excuse that his email account was hacked into, but still tried to apologize for the disappointment that he brought to everyone. If he took initiative and stepped down from office, why would he not take that opportunity to start making a good name for himself and be completely honest? We all do things we regret, but we also have to take responsibility for our actions in order to gain the respect from those around us. A person in leadership needs to take full ownership. There is always room for redemption, so he should have used that opportunity to his advantage for a fresh start and move past this scandal.
